Krittika Pal -
Hi! My name is Krittika Pal and I am the founder of EduAid. Currently a junior at Montgomery High School in New Jersey, my journey with EduAid began in the summer of 2023 alongside my partner Vedika. It all started with a heartfelt conversation with my aunt, a high school teacher in a remote Indian village. Her accounts of students struggling without basic resources struck a chord with me. When I asked her more about it, I realized my aunt had poured a lot of money into buying supplies for these students even as far as buying them laptops to work on. When I saw this issue, I realized this was something that was prevalent in a lot of places even in communities near me. While thinking of what these kids have to go through it motivated me to establish EduAid and also incorporate mental health resources as well. Besides working on bettering EduAid in my free time I am working on a literature review on how being the minority in high school affects students’ motivation, a pursuit that strongly aligns with what EduAid stands for. I am also a classical Indian Odissi dancer, and I like to play guitar as a hobby. With aspirations to pursue a career in the medical field, I am vice President of the Doctors of Tomorrow club at my school and volunteer at my local hospital.
Advait Gattu -
Hi! I am Advait Gattu and am the Secretary of EduAid Inc. Being a junior at Montgomery High School in Skillman, New Jersey, EduAid Inc. is a continuation of my passion for volunteerism. I worked on the Prison Health and Justice Initiative, striving to correct the unfair treatment of prisoners clinically and fight against the injustice that is solitary confinement, which has significant physical and mental repercussions for prisoners. Inspired by such a sentiment, I pursued to fight for equality and equal opportunity by joining the EduAid Inc. team with Krittika and Vedika. With EduAid Inc., we can provide equal opportunities within schools, a commonplace where education should be prioritized and not hampered through something as simple as a lack of materials whilst still valuing the importance of the mental health of many students. Other than focusing on improving the extent of equality at home, I am the Co-President of the Montgomery Interact Club, fostering the spirit of volunteerism throughout the school and the new generation—translating into the ideals of EduAid Inc. Planning on pursuing a career in the medical field, I am licensed in Adult And Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Basic Life Support, and Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
Vedika Sharma -
Hi! My name is Vedika Sharma and I am the vice president of EduAid. I am currently a junior at Montgomery High School. Living in central New Jersey I have been surrounded by greenery my entire life. I love hiking and birding, and I’m even working on my Girl Scout Gold Award project to bring awareness to bird depopulation. When summer arrived in 2023 and Krittika pitched the idea of EduAid to me, I didn’t know if the idea would be a good fit for me since I didn’t see its connection with my passion for environmentalism. However, my opinion changed because I realized we would not only helping young students, but we would also be helping the environment. I joined EduAid because I want to help children have the resources needed to learn and thrive while helping decrease the 77% of school supplies that are wasted every year. With EduAid, I look forward to collecting donations of both money and physical school supplies and getting hundreds of pounds of books, notebooks, pencils, and more go into the hands of young children rather than the garbage. Outside of EduAid, I am also in the environmental club in my school and I am a girl scout, currently working on my Gold Award project. I am part of my school’s JV fencing and throwing teams, and some of my hobbies are hiking, birding, and drawing. I plan on later pursuing a career in the computer science field.
